Picnic in the city

Picnics don't have to be in the park.. by the water.. under a tree.  And they certainly don't have to romantic! My roommate and I were wandering around China town during lunch time on a Sunday afternoon and couldn't resist picking up some of our favourite items. There are so many cheap and delicious eats in China Town:) We couldn't wait until we got home to eat, and found a lovely bench outside of a coffee shop in Kensington Market. What could be better then coffee + cheap and delicious food + people watching in one of the coolest places in the city?

 Ria and her Vietnamese sub.
 People watching :)
Sticky rice, beans and pork in a banana leaf thingamajig. The picture isn't that fantastic (shot on a cheap cell phone) but I can assure you it was delish! Would you believe our picnic lunch cost us less then $6? Score!

Happy Sunday. xx

Paramount (Lebanese Restaurant. Downtown Toronto)

Good food and friends :) Two of the best simple pleasures that life has to offer. Paramount is one of my roommate and I's favourite places to eat in Toronto. You know a place is good when it's packed, but don't worry the wait is never too long and the tastes are worth it. The food is made fresh to order and you can tell! When you tear into the pita bread, it steams! (I always get a kick out of that.) What really stands out for me though, are the tastes and textures. I'm not much of a food critique, but if the chicken is tender, the hummus is creamy, the vegetables are fresh and the coffee is spiced, I am so there it's insane!

  Hummus with chicken.

Paramount Special (Juice). Full of layers- My roomate and I made a game of trying to guess the composition.

View of the lower level from the second floor balcony.

Arabic Coffee (I am sure there is a special name for it). I love coffee and they have a self serve station! This spiced coffee is amazing. It is pre-sweetened, so I like to have it as an after dinner treat (sort of like dessert). I tried to re-create this at home, but it didn't turn out as well.

Has anyone else been? What did you order?

Have a Good Evening. xx
